"OLAMIDE DISSES CHOC BOIZ" : HOW UNILAGOLODO misled the public and implicated us and OLAMIDE - by MR TRIPS SLUTTER HOUSE FAMILY ARTISTE.

I was just doing my daily online business on BBM when some new music broadcast popped up on my contact list. I decided to check em up, maybe I cud find a new song that wud make my day. I was however stunned when I saw a songlink titled : "OLAMIDE DISSES CHOC BOIZ"... I was soo amazed and decided to download the song. Right from the intro I knew the voice was just a look alike of the yung erikina. It wasn't olamide. Soo I decided to let it rest. But what catched my attention was when the person who broadcasted the song (Salawu Ibrahim of UnilagOlodo.com) sent another broadcast which reads : NOTE: The song posted yesterday "Olamide ~ Choc Bois Diss" has been confirmed not to have been from Olamide. Though the dude tried his best to mimic his voice sha. Sorry if you"ve been misled. no wonder twas lame AF lol =)) . The dudes who sang it r Jakuzi n Stayne of Slutterhouse abi na abbatoire dem call am sef! Will really try confirming before posting tracks like these in the future. And those who r thinkin of pingin me sayn "I told u so" oya STFU!!! The name slutterhouse family has been a name I have heard before and fortunately I have an artiste on the label who is one of my BBM contact list, his name is MR TRIPS. I decided to contact him and ask him what transpired between them and choc boiz and why did they tell the world that it was olamide. Buh to my amazement they revealed something that you readers would like to know. This is our conversation : Participants: ------------- Ofofomaster, Mr trips Messages: --------- Ofofomaster: Bro! Ofofomaster: Did any of ur boiz in slutterhouse recorded an chocolate city diss recorded in olamide's voice. Can u please shed more light on the origin of the song. Maybe what u know about it Some bloggers are laying claims that one of your boiz recorded the diss to implicate olamide Soo, I wud like u to clarify things. Mr trips: Are U gonna put d conversation across to d bloggers ??? Ofofomaster: I will make sure I let all concern people know about it. If u wud put up a geniune information Mr trips: Stayne n Jakuzy Recorded d song over a year ago n it had over 5,000 downloads of which Choc Bois can't claim that they haven't heard d song before since then Ofofomaster: Okay Ofofomaster: Soo u mean stayne and jakuzy recorded the song! Mr trips: So,why should Salawu Ibrahim a.k.a Unilag Olodo call Slutter House Family "abbortoire" n making jest of my crew.... Mr trips: Y ?? Mr trips: Is that fair ??? Ofofomaster: Its not fair. Mr trips: Anybody can record a diss song for anybody... Ofofomaster: Did those boys actually recorded it to implicate olamide? Or they were just up in the studio to do their own thing Mr trips: Moreover, its not Choc Bois now replying them but "Unilag Olodo" Mr trips: Bro, Jakuzy is a yoruba rapper n a friend of Olamide's Ofofomaster: Okay Ofofomaster: Soo u mean olamide knows jakuzy Mr trips: So, why should he implicate him ??? Mr trips: They were in d studio n they did their thing Mr trips: Haven't U heard "Azonto" by Slutter House Family ??? Mr trips: Yup.... Ofofomaster: Do u think olamide has ever heard ds track and has he ever confronted jakuzy about it, since u said they are friends Mr trips: Jakuzy is a well known underground Yoruba... Just as they know Mr.Trips Mr trips: I don't think so.... Ofofomaster : can I have jakuzy's pin, I will like to hear his views Mr trips: Jakuzy has been off BBM bcos of his studies... Mr trips: In case U hav heard d so-called "Choc Bois Diss" that they said was done by Jakuzy n Stayne (of SLUTTER HOUSE FAMILY) in order to implicate Olamide ..its a lie..pls,pls,pls spread d word (courtesy MR.TRIPS for Slutter House Family) Mr trips: Pls bc dis sir Ofofomaster: I want u to give me concrete information Ofofomaster: The song was a direct jab at the choc boiz crew Ofofomaster: Do u mean jakuzy is beefing choc boiz on his own and he doesn't wanna implicate olamide Ofofomaster: Am asking u : why did jakuzy recorded that choc boiz diss and they claim its olamide dissing choc boiz I want u to come out with a factual statement U should know if u don't settle ds now, it might affect the entire slutterhouse artistes career Mr trips: Ok. Ofofomaster: U guys are good at what u do Mr trips: Yup..... Ofofomaster: Don't let ds be the end of your career Mr trips: Boss Ofofomaster: I am asking u : why did jakuzy beefed choc boiz! And made it sound like its olamide Mr trips: Bruv...that's his voice... He didn't mak it sound lik Olamide n it was done over a year ago. Pls don't forget that Ofofomaster: Okay Mr trips: Its an old job.... Ofofomaster: buh why was the song distributed as olamide diss to chocboiz Mr trips: I wonder y its now bcoming a fuss Ofofomaster: Why not jakuzy disses chocboiz Mr trips: I don't know... Mr trips: Its a plot to bring down SLUTTER HOUSE FAMILY Ofofomaster: Anybody can beef anybody. But why did the song not labelled jakuzy beefs chocboiz! Why was it called olamide diss to chocboiz! Only question u av to answer! Mr trips: The song was released online since last year n it had over 5k downloads Ofofomaster: Can u send me the link of the download Mr trips: Pls document our conversation Ofofomaster: And let me see has it was labelled Ofofomaster: U have av to worry about documentation Ofofomaster: I will get these across to the neccessary source Mr trips: D former link or d new one ?? Ofofomaster: The link that has over 5000 downloads as u claim Mr trips: A link of over a year ??? Ofofomaster: Yes Mr trips: Bruv... Ofofomaster: We have links on youtube that is older than that Ofofomaster: Can I ask u a question that solves all this problem? Ofofomaster: Did people downloaded the song because of the name : "olamide's diss to choc boiz" ??? Mr trips: I just got an info dat d account has closed n d account that was used to upload d song has expired Ofofomaster: What is the name or title of dt link And it was shared thru which sharing site Mr trips: D title was "Choc boiz diss" Ofofomaster: By which artiste? Ofofomaster: How did olamide got involved Ofofomaster: And what was u guys reaction to the fact that ur work was associated with another artiste Mr trips: Bro... Mr trips: If I name a track "Choc boiz diss" n U want to download n bc it can't U change d name Mr trips: Do U know what happened ? Mr trips: Lemme tell u where d mistake came from ?? Ofofomaster: Yes, tell me what apund Ofofomaster: Yes, pls tell me Mr trips: D bloggers heard d voice n felt that it was Olamide bcos they didn't know who jakuzy was until probably someone gav dem an information that Jakuzy was on d track Ofofomaster: Okay Ofofomaster: Soo they thought it was olamide Ofofomaster: Because they thought spreading the news will make sense like that Ofofomaster: Can u name a blogger u think did it. Because I saw u were talking about unilagolodo on your PM Mr trips: Unilag Olodo... Mr trips: I'm pointing at him... Ofofomaster: Soo, u mean unilagolodo might have been the one spreading the rumour. U feel he is the one who changed jakuzy's name to olamide in order to implicate olamide Mr trips: Yes... Mr trips: He made d silly mistake Ofofomaster: Okay Ofofomaster: What is ur role in slutterhouse Ofofomaster: Ar u in the management? Mr trips: Thanx.... Mr trips: I'm an artiste in Slutter House Family Ofofomaster: Okay Ofofomaster: How can I contact jakuzy Mr trips: He's off bbm Ofofomaster: I jus saw u asked olamide to DM u on twitter about the matter Ofofomaster: Has anything apund Ofofomaster: I have tried contacting all the bloggers who posted the song to post this our conversation and try to settle things for u guys. Dem no wan do am Mr trips: Can U imagine Mr trips: Do u know y ?? ds hacker boiz dey try oooo! see wetin dem do flavour nabania.... chei... him twitter don catch cold... oyi na tum oooo!

f last night’s threats are anything to go by, then celebrities using social networks like Twitter need to be very worried. Big names like D’banj, Banky W, Flavour, Wizkid and Don Jazzy came under attack yesterday, as hackers threatened to ‘expose them all’.

As if to show their seriousness, the hacker(s) took over Flavour’s official handle @flavournabania for several minutes, embarking on a tweeting spree and totally compromising the act’s account. What was the first thing Flavour’s attackers did? They immediately replaced his image a with random nude picture and changed his user name to ‘Hacked’. The handle @flavournabania was however not tampered with.‘#Hacked #Hacked #Hacked’, the tweets read.

‘We’ve had access to this account for a while. We’ve had access to so many other celeb Twitter and Facebook accounts’, more tweets read. The hackers say over 30 celebs accounts (Twitter and Facebook) have been hacked and that they will ‘expose’ them all. ‘oh @iamDbanj’s account was the easiest to get into. Dumbpassword. @Don Jazzyis next, @2faceidibia also… Banky W then @wizkidayo Must be hacked!!!! We’ll expose you all. Flavour’s account has since been suspended; and Don Jazzy, an ardent Tweeter with over 200,000 followers became immediately concerned.

Grammy Awards 2012: Adele wins 6 awards as stars pay tribute to Whitney Houston

(CBS/AP) LOS ANGELES - Updated 11:56 p.m. ET

Adele emerged as the top winner at Sunday's Grammy Awards, winning six trophies including the prestigious trifecta of record, song and album of the year.

The British songstress, who also made a triumphant comeback from vocal cord surgery on the Grammy stage, sobbed as she won the night's final award, album of the year, for "21." It was last year's top-selling album with more than six million copies sold and remains lodged at the No. 1 spot on this year's charts.

Her victories tied her with Beyonce as the most wins by a woman in one evening.

"Mom, gold is good!" Adele shouted as she took the album of he year trophy.

The celebration of Adele came on a night where the Grammys marked the loss of one of music's great female voices - and one of its most prized talents overall. Whitney Houston died the night before the Grammys, casting a shadow over music's biggest night.

But while her death lent a somber overtone to the evening's show, it did not overwhelm it, perhaps best proved by the show's closing number, a jam session featuring Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Dave Grohl among others.

The night's other big winners were Grohl's Foo Fighters, who won five Grammys. Kanye West, who was the night's top nominee with seven, won four awards.

Among the evening's performances was a dance-heavy number by Chris Brown, a performance by Paul McCartney and by Bruce Springsteen, who kicked off the show by performing his new song "We Take Care of Our Own," a rousing song that references the troubles of the nation.

But the evening's most moving moment came as Jennifer Hudson - who has called Houston an inspiration and one of her biggest idols - emerged to sing one of Houston's signature songs, "I Will Always Love You." Dressed in black, with only the accompaniment of a piano, Hudson appeared to fight back tears as she sang the song, ending with the line, "Whitney, we will always love you."

The show started off on a somber note, as host LL Cool J appeared in black, and told the audience: "There is no way around this. We've had a death in our family." He then led the audience in prayer to "our fallen sister."

"Heavenly father, we thank you for sharing our sister Whitney with us," he said. "Though she is gone too soon, we remain truly blessed to have been touched by her beautiful spirit." Stars like Lady Gaga and Miranda Lambert bowed their heads in silence. So did Mitch and Janis Winehouse, parents of Grammy winner Amy Winehouse, who died in July at age 27.

He then introduced a clip of a glowing Houston singing "I Will Always Love You." In his performance of "Runaway Baby," Bruno Mars also mentioned the death: "Tonight we're celebrating. Tonight we're celebrating the beautiful Miss Whitney Houston."

Stevie Wonder also paid tribute: "To Whitney up in heaven, we all love you."

The show, as usual, was heavy on performances more than awards. Among those was Chris Brown, who was performing on the Grammy stage for the first time since he dropped out of 2009's broadcast; his attack on Rihanna the night before led to both of their absences, an assault charge for Brown and a career low.

But 2011 marked a comeback for Brown, who performed twice during the show and won best R&B album: "First and foremost, I gotta thank God, and thank the Grammys for letting me get on this stage and do my thing," he said. "All my fans, I love you. We got one. Thank you."

The ceremony also marked first time he and Rihanna performed at the same event since the attack (she sang solo and with Coldplay during the ceremony).

Justin Vernon, whose band Bon Iver beat Nicki Minaj, The Band Perry, J. Cole and Skrillex for best new artist, accepted the award with admittedly mixed emotions.

"It's really hard to accept this award. Well, there's so much talent out here, like on this stage. There's a lot of talent that's not here tonight. It's also hard to accept because when I started to make songs I did it for the inherent reward of making songs, so I'm a little bit uncomfortable up here," he said. "But with that discomfort I do have a sense of gratitude. I want to say thank you to all the nominees, all the non-nominees that have never been here and never will be here."

The Grammys did their best to keep a tone that balanced the many moods of the night: The Foo Fighters performed in a tent outside the Staples Center, where the awards were being held, amid a throng of bouncing fans; but moments earlier, Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt paid tribute to Etta James, the legend who died last month.

There was also a tribute to the recently reunited Beach Boys that featured Maroon 5, Foster the People and Mike Love, Al Jardine and Brian Wilson, the three remaining members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, all pitch-perfect as they brought the group's California rock sound and harmonies back to life.

Other performances came from Kelly Clarkson and Jason Aldean, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. Glen Campbell, who announced his retirement last year after disclosing he had Alzheimer's disease, performed with The Band Perry and Blake Shelton, singing his classic hit, "Rhinestone Cowboy."

The Foo Fighters and Brown also returned for another dance-themed performance, a first for the Grammys. It also featured deadmau5, David Guetta and Lil Wayne.

And with Lady Gaga not performing, Minaj stepped in to give the night's most bizarre performance. The rapper's number included a clip that referenced "The Exorcist" and a stage show that had her levitating on stage amid a church-like background, with hooded choir members and religious imagery.

The ceremony also marks the first since a major overhaul of the categories last year: They were trimmed from 109 to 78

9ICE : I ONCE PUSHED CARTS AT ALADE MARKET TO SURVIVE

How I survived as cart pusher in Alade market – 9ice
February 4, 2012
By Ogbonna Amadi, Entertainment Editor

•Says he’s forgiven  ex-wife Toni but…   •Speaks on his double album
Call him whatever names you like, it does not remove the fact that music sensation, 9ICE, real names Abolore Akande stands a world apart from many of his contemporaries with his genre of music and bluesy delivery. With an album that every track is  a little masterpiece and  a reflection of his wealth of experience on the streets, 9ICE  in this interview with Showtime Celebrity recalled how many things fell into place to create a double album that is powerfully raw and is fast creeping to have a chart-topping commercial success with an ambitious concert come March .

Then hear this: Never, say never. To all fans of 9ICE there are indications that he may not have fallen out of love with ex-wife Toni Payne. Next time, you see her in his arms, remember love conquers all.

Finally, the Bashorun Gaa and Versus albums is out, what kept you so long?
What kept us so long, was that so many things happened when we released the last album. The album took a long time before it picked up. While it was picking up we didn’t want to put out any other album that will disturb the sales of the album. That is why we relaxed to allow the album sell before we released another.

Were you just experimenting or was it deliberate to have a lot of tracks on that double album?

It was neither of the two. Everything just happened the way it happened. People just believe if he is saying this, he is singing about this, this is happening, and then it is a premeditated song or he has had the idea even while he was recording the song.

Some of the stuffs were probably from your experiences…
Most of the songs on the Traditional album were personal experiences and things happening in the society that most Nigerian artistes don’t talk about. They are too busy doing other things. So I said, let me talk about these things or subjects. I thought that, by talking about these issues, I will attract some set of people to my own side.  It was deliberate.
In sports, you do not change the winning team. Gongo Aso was a huge hit and most of the tracks were produced by Cabasa; what led to this variety of producers?

Now, if you listen to, say ten hits songs recorded from 2010 till now, you will see a whole lot of changes in the Nigerian music scene entirely. There are lots of upcoming producers that are doing so well. And it will be wrong for the so called already made artistes not to encourage them, by patronising them. It is a way of expanding the industry and bringing in new people to the scene. It helps the industry grow. But that does not mean you abandon the producer you’ve been working with before, no. A little bit of this and that, makes a better album.

There are speculations there is a crack in your relationship with ID Cabasa
People have talked about that but there is no truth in the that story. There was a time Cabasa was signed to  a label and  released an album. I was part of the project. There was a time he signed on an artiste, while he was working with Olamide, I was part of it. There nothing he does that I’ve not been part of. There is a Yorubas proverb that says    Ogun omode o le s’ere fun ogun odun(Twenty children cannot play together for twenty years). Ajasa lives in Ikorodu. Jahbless stays along Lagos- Ibadan expressway, I live in Abule- Egba while  Cabasa stays in Akoka. We cannot be as together as we were before but that does not mean when we have something in common to do I will not be part of it.

How true is the story that you dumped Olamide for Vector on the track that you had Vector?
(Smiles) I’ve known Vector for a long time. And  Olamide is very close to me. He lives three blocks away from my house; I’ve known Olamide even before I met Cabasa. And he has been with me ever since. Olamide is like my brother.  And I can’t push away my brother to bring in an outsider. But then, Vector is my brother too. As a student of the University of Lagos, he was always around me whenever I go to have my hair cut in the school.

And when he passed out from the University, he came to tell me. He also told me he now raps. I said to him okay, bring the song. And while we were working on the song, I was also working on my own song. I said OK, why not do something on this song as well and he did it and that was it.  Most of the songs that we recorded on the Versus album were not meant to be. Whizkid, Tiwa Savage, were not meant to be on the album.

Because we lost the hard-drive where we had most of the data and the marketer was waiting for us to submit the album, we invited Whizkid and Tiwa to join us in the studio. It was a turn around thing that I never expected and surprisingly, those songs are now doing well.

Why do you keep changing your marketers? Is there something they or you are doing wrong?
It is not me, they are the ones. St. Jude is yet to give us a dime from the first album. We printed 50,000 copies of the first album ourselves. He sold them and he is yet to remit that money. After that he printed an additional 300,000 copies, yet he didn’t pay a dime to me or the record label owner Ibrahim Okulaja.

Will you encourage me to do another business with such a person? When Afrobest sold out Gongo Aso and was making a lot of money, I warned him against signing up unknown artistes in a hurry but he would not listen. But he went ahead and signed almost all Nigerian artistes and the money went away. Till date, Afrobest still owes me.  I cannot do another business with such a person.

Gbenga Soforte and I did Tradition. When the Versus and Bashorun Gaa albums wanted to drop, he said he wanted the whole 65,000 and I said no. This time around I’ve  been in the industry for quite sometime, my dreams and inspirations are quite different now. We disagreed on principles. We had no problem with money or that he did not meet my expectations. He did everything to please me, but what I want now is not what he can afford. So I had to go to who could give me what I want. And that is what happened. T Joe is giving me what I want and that’s cool with me.

Do you still have your mind on winning the Grammy?
Most definitely. May be when I win a Grammy I will retire.

Do you have any plan to collaborate with foreign artistes?
Yes. We were supposed to do that on this Versus‘ album but because it was taking too long and people were no longer ready to wait anymore, we had to fast forward everything. Probably in my forthcoming album we will have international artistes involved.

Don’t you consider yourself a misunderstood person, before the media and some of your colleagues?

Definitely. I’m not the type that talks recklessly. It is what people hear from you that they will feed on.  So, I cannot blame people writing what they write about me because when they have a one on one chat with me they will have a different view of my person. But how many people will I be able to have interviews with when they have the materials on their desks and are in a hurry to meet up with their deadline to publish. But when they have a one- on- one with me they will have a change of mind.

Do you enjoy your single life?
I will not say so. But now I think, If I say I want to travel to Lokoja, I can easily go because my son,  Zion will not be crying on my neck, ‘daddy do not go’. Yes the freedom is there, but there are some elements that are missing in my life that I enjoyed as a married man.

Like what?
Like waking up in the morning and my food is served and waiting on the table. Listening  to the cries of the baby is also a very joyous moment to me. Now I no longer have the baby to cuddle and hold on to, because he is not there. These are

the things I miss in marriage.

You feel more comfortable signing in Yoruba, am I right?
Yeah. I feel more comfortable singing in Yoruba because it is my local dialect and Yoruba has been the medium that I have used in all my albums, It has taken me this far. I will continue using that language.

Do you do you do any consultations or researches on the those Yoruba innuendos and idioms you use in your songs?

9ice and Toni...when the going was good

Yeah. I make researches and consultations now,  but when I was doing it then, I was just doing it for the  fun because those were natural  and  they come without tasking myself. Now when I am talking about something, I make sure they are well researched and on point. Like the Bashorun Gaa album, I had to make researches to ensure that what I am saying is on point. And if there are some proverbs I’d want to use, I consult the elderly people. I am making my researches that way.

I think it is in the track, Everyday that you mentioned you pushed the cart in Alade Market, is that a real experience?
A lot of people think it is Alade Market on Allen Avenue. But there is an Alade Market in Bariga. Truth is, the Alade Market on Allen Avenue, Ikeja is more popular than the one in Bariga.

We used to push carts loaded with Ewedu and Ugu  vegetables for market women who come to the market to buy in bulk but cannot handle their wares because they loads on their heads. So while they carry some on their heads we will be pushing the rest in the cart behind them.  Sometimes, because some bad boys run away with  their goods, they insist we push the carts ahead of therm so they can see the movement of their goods. Those were some of the things that I did  in those days to survive.

How much were you earning per day then?
Then if you push the cart with Ewedu and Ugu from Alade which is in Jagunmolu or from Jagunmolu to Okoko you will earn at-least N100:00 (One hundred naira).

So 9ice, having gone through this, how well are you giving back considering the fact that many boys are still on the streets?

We did a show last year in Bariga on Christmas day. We realised that on Christmas Day Bariga can be so boring. So instead of letting the people go to Lekki  to go and watch shows which many cant afford, we brought a show to them. It was a free show.  Today we have provided free pipe-borne water people living on my street. And we are trying to do more. I have done the same for the community I live currently. I am still trying to do more, like sharing free textbooks to secondary and primary schools’  students through the 9ice Foundation.

Do you forgive people when they offend you?
Yes, definitely I do because even God forgives us when we offend Him.  So I have to forgive and let go.

Have you forgiven Toni?
Most definitely, I can call her now. We are friends. If you want me to call her now, I will call her now.

Will you give love another chance?
Definitely.

With Toni?
No, it might not be with her but I will definitely give love a chance. And it might be with her as well, who knows?

So love between you and her is not ruled out?
Yes.  It is not ruled out.

What about marriage?
To give marriage a second chance, abi? Yes, I can remarry. Of-course, it is possible.

You can remarry Toni?
It is possible. Anything is possible.

What are the expectations regarding your concert that is coming up in March?
People should expect me to sing songs from the new album. And it is been a long time that I did a live-band performance because a lot of people do not know that I started with a live band. That day I will be doing some songs live and King Sunny Ade and K1 ‘D’ Ultimate will be performing live on that day as well. And all the artistes that I featured on that album will be performing live on stage.

So what is the deal with Cecil Hammond’s FlyTime?
FlyTime is the one packaging this event for me as they have done for other artistes. I believe if this event scales through it is going to be like  breaking a barrier and moving to the next level.

OFOFO interviews W4... omoge waaa gba control!

**W4 EXCLUSIVE: 'A COUPLE OF LADIES JUST MADE STRAIGHT FOR ME AND DIPPED THEIR HANDS IN MY PANTS'***
The name Adewale Adepoju might not ring a bell to Nigerian music lovers, but mention ‘W4′, and there’s more than a flicker of recognition in the eyes of many youths who follow and enjoy urban Afro pop music. This Osun State native is currently the rave of the moment, especially with his latest track, a hit single titled ‘Kontrol’.
W4, or ‘Mr. Wonder’, is getting more and more attention from fans and others, especially with his re-branded Fela-esque image, even though he has been in the industry for a while now. In this interview with NET, he talks about his music, his art, his new image and how he handles the fame and, of course, the increased attention from women…

What was growing up like for you?

I grew up in a very strict household. My parents didn’t even know I was doing music until my first video. I was involved in a lot of social activities in my secondary school, under curfew you know. I had limited time I needed to be at home, limited time I needed to go out and all that. But I’m an example of a good character, if I may say so. Despite the fact that I was doing music, I never let it get to my head and disobey my parents; because that’s the way I was nurtured.

Your latest single ‘Kontrol’ is currently in heavy rotation in clubs and enjoys regular airplay both on the radio and television. Is this the kind of music you’ll be doing now?

Well, basically, I do R&B, but on my sophomore album which I am about to drop soon, you’ll find a lot of Afro influence. Basically, after I debuted my first album ‘Temperature’ in 2005, which had the big hit, ‘Solo‘, I was on tour in Europe under the Hypertek umbrella. And while I was touring the world, going to different countries, I used that time to re-think my strategy, on my music, brand and even personality. So basically I came up with the idea of infusing Afro into my music, my art and my dress code, in fact, into my entire persona. So, yes, to an extent, the music has been influenced by the great Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

Indeed it has, at least judging by your new look. Tell us about the costume..

Well I’d say it was of course inspired by Fela, and remains essentially the same, but with a little innovation on my part. Whereas Fela’s pants go all the way down, mine don’t. Fela’s pants don’t come with pockets, unlike mine. And my shirts of course is a bit different. If you call me a ‘trendy’ Fela, I wouldn’t mind much, because I have made so many youths come to love and identify with the Fela brand.

Is it right to assume you’re trying to bring this neo-Afrobeat back to the mainstream?

Afro never died, just like Fela never died, despite the fact that he is not here with us physically. So his relevance in music and the struggle is very much felt. But I am not trying to imbibe the whole Fela persona or character; I’m just mixing that with my R&B style. And you know the word is ‘innovation’, don’t forget, I do music and the business of music. I have love for the art and when you’re doing a business you need to create the right product, the right brand. And for me, creating this brand has given me a bigger niche in the industry and I’m being recognised faster now, if you even see my shadow, you’ll know I’m the one!

So far, how has the new image been accepted?

Of course a lot of people, especially the young ones appreciate it, even those who had not really heard of Fela or encountered him before now. They now take time out to study Fela a bit you know, to understand where I’m coming from. But they are already loving it, I blended the brand perfectly, colours, costume, you know, so yeah, they accept and enjoy it.

Has there been any word from the Kuti family, positive or negative, concerning your look?

The Kuti family and I have good rapport, especially after the release of the Kontrol video. I’ve met with all of them and it’s been good understanding between us. In fact they are proud that someone else is carrying on their father’s legacy and doing it well and they are proud of it.

Has the money been rolling in for you?

Well the brand is fresh and as far as money is concerned, well what can I say? We thank God (laughs).

How has the reception been from the ladies?

Well it’s been fun all the way, the love from both the male and the female fans has been awesome. But let me tell you, if the male fans are going gaga over the brand, you can imagine the reaction of the females. But basically I don’t segregate; putting them together makes me who I am, so yes, I got love for everybody.

What’s the craziest experience you’ve ever had with your female fans?

Well, and this was before even ‘Kontrol‘. I remember a show where I performed in UNILAG, quite a while back, and as I got into the crowd, a couple of ladies just made straight for me and dipped their hands into my pants and grabbed my crotch! I’m telling you. Now with the Fela persona and all, I’ve had ladies all trying to get a feel of me because my pants are a bit tighter and they think what they see here (motions towards his pubic area) is probably stuffed. I mean, dem go just put hand there dey feel am. I surprise no be small, because I even know some of the ladies but never thought they could do that. Some of dem na (Sound) Sultan de tell dem say I put foam there! (General laughter)

What was your reaction when you were groped during the
performance?

I didn’t panic or anything, I kept doing my thing, I be man na! (Laughter around).

‘Kontrol’ to a lot of people means many things but many think it’s sexually suggestive. What do you mean when you say ‘Omoge wa gba Kontrol’?

Well, Kontrol is a normal slang that has been around. To me, it just means good things. Everybody needs ‘kontrol’, I do, you do, everybody, even (President) Jonathan sef need ‘kontrol’. When performing this song, I make the ladies forget whatever problems they may be facing and use ‘kontrol’ as an outlet for them to unwind.

Is W4 in a romantic relationship, or are there any signs wedding bells may be ringing anytime soon?
No, and I don’t have any plan of going into such for now. My fans are my priority, so for me, a long term commitment or marriage is not in the cards for now.

Who are you working with on your second album?

Well, this my second album, which I titled ‘Mr Wonder’, features young and capable hands, very vibrant hands. I’m working with a lot of talented people, like J Fem, who created the Kontrol beat. Very fresh and vibrant. I also have J Sleek, Jiggy jeg, you know, a lot of them. Basically this album should be able to have something for everyone, both young and old.

If you weren’t into music…

(Cuts in) if I wasn’t a musician, I’d be a doctor. No doubt I’d have been a doctor; I always had a passion for that. But anyway, I am already a doctor, seeing as my music heals souls.

The concept for the ‘Kontrol’ video is unique. Was it what you visualised when you initially recorded the song?

Initially we (W4 and video director Clarence Peters) had a meeting where we discussed this. You know I’m the brand and I wanted some things to be in the video. I had a lot of concepts but I had to seek the director’s take too, you know, to bring his professionalism to bear. So me and Clarence (Peters) sat down and came up with what you will agree is a perfect video. Already, the song has picked up an award, the NMVA for best Afro video last year (2011), less than a month after the release of the video, so of course, it is sure going places.

So, looking ahead, what are the plans for the future, local and international collaborative efforts and all?

Of course I will be doing one or two collaborations, both internationally and back home, but you know, just keep your fingers crossed and watch as things happen. This is very important to me you should watch out for me, as I constantly continue to re-invent myself to bring out the best, even sixty years from now

OFOFO: IDCABASA TURNS MAN OF GOD

ACE MUSIC PRODUCER CUM MUSICIAN ID CABASSA TURNS GOD'S MINISTER
Story by AKINNAGBE AKINTOMIDE/NIGERIAFILMS.COM

Olumide Ogunade a.k.a ID Cabasa is synonymous with 9ice’s Gongo Aso, having produced all the tracks on that award winning album. That’s just one of his numerous hits.

Cabassa is a confirmed hit-maker as his bouquet of awards, received directly and indirectly testify. His hits range from Ajasa’s ‘O ti Ya’ and ‘Le Fenu so’ to Banky’s ‘Capable (Remix)’, ‘Shayo’ by Durella, ‘RuggedyBaba’ by Ruggedman and ‘Kpo Kpo di Kpo’ by Faze, just to mention a few.

The news now is that the suave looking beat merchant cum singer , has turned a new leaf and has been busy serving in the Lord’s vineyard.

According to sources, Cabasa, alongside nine other members of Global Impact Church were being recognized for their service to the ministry and also rewarded for their impact in the church. The father of two was also ordained as a minister in the church.

While fans and friends continue pouring encomiums on Cabasa for the new phase of his life, whether the gifted producer of secular music will give all up for God, is now the question on the lips of his many followers.

OFOFO : 2FACE speaks about his coming 6th baby. says he is a womanizer

'm a womanizer? I don't even know that I womanize" - 2face Idibia

"I didn't get this from my father. My father is not a
womaniser. That I know. I have never caught my
father with another woman. He is very faithful to my mother. I am also not a womanizer. Yes it
happens that I have more women in my life. It is
the price I have to pay for being a star.

I didn't plan to have more than one woman in my life. I didn't plan my life to be the way it is now but no regrets. I love my kids. Right now, I have three women in my
life who have five kids for me (and expecting a 6th
one) and I sincerely don't know how I'm able to
cope with three women.

Fela had over two dozen
wives but I'm not Fela. I can never be another Fela. I have three women but I'm saying a big NO to
Fela's kind of polygamy. I don't even know what
these women see in me (Oh yeah, Tuface? lol).

I used to look into the mirror sometimes and wonder, what it is
that they see in me." -

2face told a correspondant when
they asked him about womanizing and regrets.....

So he doesn't know why women want him? Dear
Tuface, you're good looking, you're talented, you're famous, you're humble, you have a great heart and you're rich. What more?

OFOFO interviews DAVIDO.... e maa damiduro yeeeehhhh. emi mr olofofo!

DAVIDO - EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

These days, no party or club night is complete without the latest hit song from this 19-year-old. David Adedeji Adeleke, better known as Davido, is a bit of a wunderkind, having been in the music game for six years already. He stopped by Nigerian Entertainment Today’s offices to talk about his background, why he doesn’t see Wizkid as his competition, and why he didn’t ‘Occupy Nigeria’.

Who was David before Davido?

Before I did music, I was into music, being around the industry, always in the studio. It was something I always wanted to do. But now that I’m in the operations, it comes naturally to me; when I go for shows, I don’t really think about the money. I’m going there to entertain, to make people dance and make them happy. It’s a good feeling that when people see you, they get happy. I’m happy as well that I’m doing what I love.

Where were you born?

Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A

You grew up there?

No. I was born there and moved back to Nigeria when I was like two years old. When I was about 16, I went back to the U.S for like a year, then later came back to write the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam.

Which part of Lagos did you grow up?

I grew up in Lagos, Ikeja, GRA, then moved to the Island in 2005.

How many are you in your family?

Five and I am the last. I have two sisters, two brothers.

When did you start music production?

I started producing when I was 13. I began from being a studio rat to recording songs; that was at Enough Records Studio at Ikota shopping complex, then moved to other places.

How long have you been producing music officially?

It’s going to be a year in March.

Which instruments do you play?

I used to play the saxophone but now I’m on the keyboard.

How interested are your parents in your music career?

I’m the first person in my family, my generation that has gone into music. My mom passed away; my dad kept saying I needed to go back to school. But really, it was when ‘Dami duro‘ dropped that he knew I was serious with music. With ‘Back When’, I was doing shows upon shows; he thought it was serious but not really. I performed ‘ Dami duro ‘ at my sister’s show in December, which he attended, the crowd was massive. I sang to him and everything.

Before ‘Back when‘ which other songs had you released?

I did a recording with one of my cousins, MP. We were both pushing it then, but it didn’t work out. ‘Back when‘ was the first song I released, I dropped it when I was in London.

What made you come back to Nigeria?

Some of my friends advised me to come back, that they were making money and that the music industry in Nigeria is easier to penetrate. I had fun over there, I had money but there was no passion. I was determined to start something, no matter my age.

How did you hook up with your manager Asa Asika?

We’ve been friends before high school, I told him my plans. He was just helping me at first then I later hooked up with him, then he became my manager and we pushed things.

People are comparing you to Wizkid, how do you see this comparison, and do you see him as a competitor?

I’m actually with him most of the time. We sometimes talk about it, laugh about it; we go on Twitter and look at blogs. I don’t know why people weigh us together. I don’t believe in turn by turn; Why can’t Wizkid have a number one song in Abuja and I have another one in Port Harcourt or somewhere else and everyone carries it together; no competition as such. I see him as a colleague, maybe if I didn’t know him personally; but I do. We are even planning some things together, so cool.

How do you feel about the buzz surrounding you?

It’s fast and crazy. When I came out, apart from Wizkid’s album that was out then, which was hot, there wasn’t really much music releases. So I was like let me use that advantage. I know that I had good music so I went back to the studio, worked in some stuff, came out with ‘Back When’, and shot the video. I had support even from Wizkid, Naeto C, D’banj and some others.

What inspires you to make music?

The streets. People look at me like this guy’s dad is rich and stuff. Even the ‘Dami duro‘ song, I got the inspiration from one of my guys on the streets. They usually call me ‘Omo baba olowo’. Most of my songs all have Yoruba in it, I want to confuse them. People look at me like I don’t have to do what I’m doing but it’s not about whose money but your money; it’s about my dream; it’s about doing my own thing.

Which artistes have inspired you over the years?

The likes of Mo’Hits, Wizkid, D’banj, Wande Coal and Flavour. Hopefully, we are going to do some crazy work this year; 2012, no play.

A lot of people like your song; how are you reacting to the reception?

It’s been crazy. I can’t do a lot of things I used to do anymore. I can’t even go to Shoprite; it’s like a gift and a curse at the same time. When I got into the game at first, I was like I just want to be there, I don’t want to blow but when everything bloomed, I was like, wow, I thank God. My first major break was at the Music Meets Runway show and from there I built on it. Before, when I went for shows, I’d wonder if people would like the song, but now it’s normal.

Your stage presence is quite different from other fast rising artists. How did you develop it?

Even before ‘Back when‘, all the shows I’ve had I’ve been always the same way, even if people don’t know the song, an entertainer should be able to go somewhere and rock it. There’s a difference between being an artiste and an entertainer. D’banj , Psquare, Wizkid and the likes are entertainers that’s why they are up there. I love people who make good music in Nigeria, and shoot good videos but I feel like this whole thing is in-built. I’m sure with all this things I have, if I don’t have this confidence, I won’t be where I am today. It’s not always all about the song; some people have big songs, but don’t do shows.

Could you say having money has helped make your career bigger?

I don’t believe that; if I go on that route, they will suck me out because they will think that there’s a lot. There are many people I approached at my beginning stages; I introduced myself to them and all but… now they are like, ‘you are my boy’. In the industry, I’m not looking at anybody; I’m going on my own. If you don’t like me, you don’t; anyone that does well, I give them their credit.

Girls, Girls, Girls…tell us about them

No major girl for now. I’m just having fun. If I do meet a girl, now will be the time to log on/off. I’ve not really seen anyone for now; I’m on my hustle, on my drive.

What about school?

I’m studying Business Administration, 300 Level in Babcock University.

How are you managing school and music?

It’s crazy.

How do your lecturers treat you?

They bug me a lot. Sometimes, they intentionally try to test me like, ‘oh, I’m going to pick on this dude today’. I laugh with them and sometimes I’m like those are my fans. To me, it doesn’t matter. I just have to do what I have to do.

Do you think if you weren’t the one producing your music, you would still make hits?

Being my own producer helps a lot because I can produce exactly what I want. Even if I’m not the producer, I can tell a producer exactly what I want but I will take it to my studio, rearrange the whole thing and make some changes.

Do you miss your mum?

Yeah, I do. I was young though but I’m sure if she was here, she will be rocking all the songs.

What’s your relationship with your dad?

It’s very good. I go over to see him from time to time.

What’s your stand on the subsidy issue?

Well, the people voted him in, if they double the price, triple your hustle.

You weren’t at Ojota during the protest?

I felt I couldn’t go there to sing ‘emi omo baba olowo’, to me I feel some of the artistes that went there to sing, did that to promote their albums not for the right reasons. Why do you have to dress up, take a picture, upload on twitter and tweet, I’m at Ojota. Why don’t you share your money or buy fuel and share it or just do something that will touch the people.

What’s one word that describes Davido?

Different; if I’m in a room with stars that are bigger than I am, I will stand out. I don’t care, I could jump in the crowd, my facial expressions are different, and my shows are different.

When can we expect a full album?

For now, I’m not really working on an album but on songs and hits. I’m sure this year, not particular about the date, but there will be something. My fans are going to get tired of me, trust me. I have plans; I’m working on some international stuff. We also have about three marketers already.
